2017 – 2018 TERM DATES
All students enrolled or enrolling into an IWGC term program follow our process as set out below:
At the end of each term, gymnasts have a chance to withdraw from their current class.
All children wishing to continue will be automatically reenrolled into the following term.
All children who have been placed on our
waitlist are contacted
about any places that have opened up.
Any places that have not been filled will now be open to the public on a first in best dressed basis.
Before signing up to any IWGC program you must have created a user account through our customer portal. Having a user account will allow you to add and edit personal details, view current, and enrol into, new classes and check your financials. As long as this account has been created you can enrol via the following options:
User Account (fastest & preferred method): You can make any class booking via the enrolments section of your user account.
Email: With the following details – Child’s Name, D.O.B, Class Type, Class Day, Class Time.
Phone: You can phone the office to book into a class (voice messages will not be accepted as a booking)
At IWGC we know and love gymnastics and welcome all new members to enjoy the benefits our sport provides. Sometimes, however, we understand new members can be a little unsure whether this is the sport for them.
IWGC trial lessons are a ‘try before you buy’ option providing you and your gymnast the opportunity to meet the teachers, try a class and determine whether we are the right fit before committing to a whole term.
A FEW THINGS TO NOTE BEFORE BOOKING IN:
As the majority of IWGC classes run at capacity we are only able to provide one opening per lesson for trial participants.
Trial lessons are only available for the first four weeks of each term. (see dates)
Your trial lesson does not guarantee you a place in the class. Places are reserved for full fee paying families.
READY TO COME ALONG?
We suggest you phone the office on 9550 2887 to discuss your trial lesson needs. Once you have spoken to someone you can book in by completing the class registration process in the enrolments section above. Once we receive your booking someone from the IWGC office will contact you to confirm and book in the first available trial date to suit you.
INTERESTED IN OUR SQUAD CLASSES?
If your child has previous gymnastics experience, you can arrange a skills assessment with our competition program coordinator who will evaluate your gymnast and discuss potential training opportunities within our development or competitive programs. For more information phone the office on 9550 2887.
IWGC has a number of class pathway options created to support long term participation within gymnastics. Each class is specifically programmed around a set of essential developmental skills to ensure that every gymnast is learning the correct fundamental techniques to give them a greater headstart on their path to more advanced gymnastics.
WOMENS COMPETITIVE PATHWAYS
All IWGC competitive squads follow the Australian wide levels system with foundation levels providing a personal best oriented award system in club based competition, levels 3-6 following on with the goal oriented award scheme at club, State and National level and 7-10 intoducing individual apparatus and overall champions at state, national and international levels.
TEAM GYM PATHWAYS
Team Gym was introduced at IWGC in 2015 and is a rapidly growing squad group with womens and mixed, beginner and intermediate levels already representing the club. Team Gym is an exciting competition event for teams of 6-12 gymnasts, aged 5 years and over exhibiting gymnastics skills across three different disciplines; Floor, Tumbling and Single Mini Tramp, competing at club, state, national and international level.
Gymnastics NSW Guidelines
All IWGC programs are based around the guidelines presented by Gymnastics NSW to ensure that every participant is gaining the most out of every program, every time.
Gymnastics is to sport what the alphabet is to reading
As with many sports, Gymnastics is a progressive sport that starts at a grass roots level and requires strong technical foundations from the ground up. To ensure that every one of our gymnasts is being provided with the best head start IWGC has incorporated a quarterly 15 step testing system that all our Gym Kids and Gym Teens programs are based around, with each week delivering a new skill progression towards the testing levels of each group.
This testing system is designed to establish a strong understanding of the mechanics of each skill specific to gymnastics. For example all children may know how to jump, however, can they do it with the correct body position, power and timing, muscle activation and whole body coordination, can they do it with with their feet together and toes pointing, knees and arms straight and perform the correct landing technique (and these are only the basic elements we are looking for!).
So that each participant is being challenged (a 7 year old will generally be more capable than a 5 year old) each new member is placed on a testing level that will best suit their developmental stage and then follows the testing pathways each term until they have reached the top level. Children who do reach this milestone then have the opportunity to join one of our competitive squads representing the club at local, state and national levels.
